We, that is three guys, two Border Terriers and a Golden Retriever, set off from the cabin and walked to the top of Skeikampen. From there we started walking in the direction of Prestkampen which can be seen straight north and easily recognised by a large rock beacon. The south-eastern summit is quite accessible, and no climbing is necessery. After escaping a small rain shower and having lunch on a covered ledge near the top we continued down towards Svartvatnet and headed further north until we found Peer Gynt-stien which took us west to the Peer Gynt road. A couple of hours on the dirt road, and we were back where we started. All in all a nice 8 hour hike, although the final stage wasn’t quite as spectacular as the rest. Maybe we’ll bring a map and have a few ideas where we’re going next time. I’m already eager to check out the path heading east from the north ridge of Storfjellet…

No picture today. I’m starting to run out. The ones posted so far are just some of the few I’ve found scattered around the Internet, pictures I uploaded on a random basis on random sites, pictures from before my hard-drive and dear old camera was stolen about a year ago. Easy come, easy go; I never learn. But once the inital shock of loss settles, things pretty much turn back to normal. The bread still tastes better when it’s fresh, the piano is still slightly out of tune. And so it goes.

It reminds me of the people I used to call my best friends.

Where are they, who are these people? After a rough count I have eight, nine, ten names in front of me. This is the short version of my life. My best friends in chronological order. One I haven’t seen in 20 years. Some who may as well be dead for all I know. I could go looking, maybe catch up on life, but the more I think about it, the more confident I am that the result will be a huge disappointment. So I’ll settle with what I have now, and let that grow. That much I’ve learned from scavenging the web for dusty photographs.
